Tampere Art Museum

The main exhibition of 2024 at the Tampere Art Museum is the Hyper, an international exhibition that takes the viewer directly to the skin, close to humanity. The works explore the relationship between life and death, reality and fantasy, human and machine, as well as various deformations of the human body. The subjects include everyday situations, ordinary people, and the diversity of human existence.

This summer’s piece on the Tammerlampi pond is a touching installation titled “Pysähdys” by visual artist Jarno Vesala. It features a life-sized elderly couple embracing each other under an umbrella. Vesala’s work “Pysähdys” is classically romantic in its setting: a small scene captured on the fenced Tammerlampi like a stage with a water surface. The summer sculpture will delight city residents until October.

The visual artist Suvi Sysi (b. 1990 in Nilsiä) has been chosen as the Young Artist of the Year 2024. Suvi Sysi's works are mainly abstract installations. In her art, the expressive elements of printmaking, sculpture, and painting come together. In addition to paper, the materials used in her works include ceramics, wood, and plaster. Her solo exhibition will open at the Tampere Art Museum in October.
